Curtiss-Wright Case Study

24-7 Group were awarded the project to design and build the complete electrical installation for a new 160,000sqft premises at Curtiss-Wright’s Christchurch site.

The development consists of a 3-story office building, canteen facilities, and large production and warehouse areas.

The installation included; site wide electrical infrastructure, HV & LV switchgear, containment, power distribution, lighting, small power, fire alarm systems and ICT systems for the CAT A-C fit out.

LED lighting has been used throughout the site, incorporating intelligent controls systems to maximise energy savings and to provide a comfortable working environment.

Along with other environmental and energy saving measures, 24-7 Group aided the project in reaching the target BREEAM rating of very good.

As part of the CAT C fit out of the production facility, 24-7 had to work closely with Curtiss-Wright to develop and understand their detailed requirements

With regards to the new production equipment and the operating procedures and processes, the new installation needed to run smoothly from both an installation and operational point of view.

Before work began, 24-7 Group visited the company’s three other sites around Christchurch to check and measure all the machines already in use.

This helped the design team fully incorporate the machines requirements into the electrical design, ensuring that all interface elements are correctly selected and installed with the specific requirements to each item of equipment whether it be new or relocated from other sites.
